Toddler injured in dog attack at Riverwood NSW

A child has suffered facial injuries after being bitten by a dog in Riverwood today.

Police were called to Belmore Road, Riverwood, near Coleridge Street, just after 10am (Wednesday 3 September, 2014) following reports of a dog attack.

On arrival police found a boy suffering facial injuries. Witnesses told police the toddler was bitten by a Rottweiler dog that was tied-up outside a shop.

The boy has been taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from St George Local Area Command are currently searching for the dog and its owner.

Police have seized a dog suspected of biting a child on the face at Riverwood earlier today.

Police were called to Belmore Road, Riverwood, near Coleridge Street, just after 10am (Wednesday 3 September, 2014) following reports of a dog attack.

On arrival police found a boy suffering facial injuries. Witnesses told police the toddler was bitten by a Rottweiler dog that was tied-up outside a shop.

The dog and its owner had left the scene prior to police arrival.   The boy was taken to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and is said to be in a stable condition.

Officers have identified the owner of the dog and a full investigation is underway.   The animal has been impounded.
