Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer says the funding will allow Council to start work on these much-needed projects sooner than anticipated. “We know the community of Medowie has been calling for a fix for James Road for some time, so it’s fantastic that we’re now able to get to work on rehabilitating this section of road. “The funding will also allow us to reseal Hannah Parade at One Mile including the car park. “Anyone who loves One Mile beach will know how popular this short stretch of road is and how much of a difference this will make to users. “We’re also focused on the adjacent Gan Gan Road over the coming months. “This is one of our highest priority projects as part of Council’s $3 million commitment to road rehabilitation across Port Stephens. “These improvements will mean safer journeys on Port Stephens roads, which is a great thing for our community and visitors alike,” he said. Fixing Local Roads works: · Hannah Parade, One Mile — $315,000 to reseal the existing road pavement and extend the seal into the gravel parking area. · James Road, Medowie — $350,000 to rehabilitate the existing road pavement from Boyd Boulevard extending 500 metres north. Construction on both projects is scheduled to start in late 2021.
