$50,000 for Port Stephens Sporting Groups

MEMBER for Port Stephens Kate Washington was pleased to support the applications of eight local sporting groups for funding under the NSW Local Sporting Grants program.

The eight groups from across Port Stephens will share $50,000 which will be used to purchase equipment, upgrade facilities or compete in competitions.

“Congratulations to each of the successful applicants. This funding will boost participation in local sports and assist local clubs facilitate access to sport,” Ms Washington said.

Among the list of recipients was Port Stephens Outrigger Club who received $5,000 for the purchase of safety equipment and an equipment storage box.

Medowie Little Athletics Centre received an upgrade of the canteen at Kindlebark Oval to the value of $2,800.

Port Stephens Sports Taekwondo received $5,000.

“Local sporting groups do fantastic work in our community – keeping people active and bringing people together,” Ms Washington said.

“I thank all the hardworking volunteers at the clubs who contribute so much to our communities. I am pleased to support their efforts.”
