Nambucca Valley Radio’s Ceri Wrobel and Donna Collins are thrilled to be finalist in the CBAA National Awards

THE district’s very own community radio station, 105.9FM Nambucca Valley Radio (2NVR), has announced that it is a finalist in three categories in the prestigious Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) National Awards.

The station itself is a finalist in the Outstanding Small Station Award category.

President of the 2NVR Committee of Management, Donna Collins, told News Of The Area, “We feel very privileged to be finalists in this category.

Every presenter works hard to produce their own shows which range from current affairs, local interviews, sport, music and requests.

“Our valley has suffered over the past three years and as events begin to return to the Nambucca we are thrilled to be able to get out there and deliver outside broadcasts,” Donna said.

The station is also a finalist in the Troy Garner Excellence in Sports Programming Award for their popular Sunday evening Sports Program, That’s a Wrap.

The show is co-presented by Donna Collins, Nigel Wibow and Gary Biden.

“The team is thrilled to have been nominated for the award and to have the opportunity to follow their passion for sport,” Donna said.

“We are so grateful for the many guests who come on the show, especially the local sports people and administrators.”

2NVR’s popular Friday morning show, Talk of the Town, has also been honoured and is a finalist in the Best Radio Program-Talks.

Talk of the Town presenter Ceri Wrobel told News Of The Area, “I am excited and chuffed the show has this recognition particularly given that we are up against many much better resourced stations.

”I find people so interesting and I love having the opportunity to talk to them, hear their stories and provide a platform for their passion, interest or cause.

“As well as providing a platform for community groups, music is very important to me and it is great to be able to promote local artists through talk of the town.”

The winners will be announced in late October at the CBAA National Conference in Cairns.
