India Cockle, Emilee Hicks, David Fisher and Lachlan Vaughan were all smiles when presented with their Captain Badges. India maintains an enthusiastic extracurricular schedule with dance and gymnastics. She is particularly passionate about creative writing, always demonstrating an insightful maturity. Emilee’s extracurricular passion is soccer as a member of the Emerging Jets Academy. In her spare time she enjoys riding horses, and always embraces new challenges. David is an avid reader and often can be found with a book in his hands. He also loves to draw and is considered an expert on Star Wars by his many friends. Lachlan is an enthusiastic member of the school’s creative and performing arts curriculum. He is actively involved in both dance and choir, and also excels in public speaking. Hunter River High School captains candidates were required to be members of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and regularly participate within whole school activities. As part of the election process students were required to submit an Expression of Interest to the SRC coordinator, to be reviewed by the selection panel. The 2019 School Captains are Megan Snow and Dylan Eyb. Megan Snow received Dux of Year 11, 2018. Dylan Eyb received 1st in Geography and 2nd in Business students 2018. While the Vice Captains for 2019 are Kane Chester and Josh Kirkpartick. Kane Chester is the President of the JAECG, received the Worimi award 2018 and also received the Pierre De Coubertin Award 2018. Josh Kirkpartick received 2nd in Geography and is a member of the Tea Gardens Rural Fire Service. Principal of Hunter River High Mrs Deb Dibley told News Of The Area, ‘We have a strong leadership team for 2019 and I look forward to working with our school captains and hearing their positive ideas that are going to change the student body.’ By Kelly MAY
