Shortly after 2.20am today (Sunday 18 September 2016), emergency services were called by concerned residents on Seaham Road at Nelsons Plains after reports of a loud impact. Police from Port Stephens Local Area Command attended and located a Toyota utility that appears to have run off the road and struck a power pole near the intersection with Noongah Road. The recovery operation took several hours during which the deceased was released from the vehicle and the cracked power pole was isolated.
