As reported previously in News Of The Area (NOTA 22/12/20), one of the services offered at the facility is a Friday medical clinic run voluntarily by Dr Ryan Partridge to deliver services to homeless and disadvantaged members of our community.

Dr Partridge said, “This is something of a first-aid clinic that provides health advice and basic general practice services, and we are often backing up and reinforcing other health services.

“We give immediate care and what is sometimes referred to as street medicine, and we see between six to twelve people per day.”

With no government funding for any of the services Pete’s Place provides they recently welcomed a donation of $12,000 to support the clinic’s operation.

Made up of $6,000 from Rotary International, $2,000 from the Daybreak Rotary Club, $3,000 from the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour and $1,000 from Mayor Denise Knight, the funding will go towards much needed computer hardware and software for the clinic, as well as more medical supplies.

The donation from the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour came from monies raised by their extremely popular annual Bookfest, which will run this year for the sixteenth time from Saturday 20 February to Saturday 27 February at the Coffs Harbour showgrounds.
