Bulahdelah Fishing Club haul in over 100kg of fish at Mungo Brush FEATURED Sport by NOTA - May 5, 2016May 5, 2016 Bulahdelah Fishing Club members returned from their monthly outing with a heavy haul of fish to be weighed last Sunday. Competition Winners Jayden Walting, Thomas Evans, Fiona Minett and Grace McRae. Twenty-six anglers took to the waters of Mungo Brush over the weekend with several new club members enjoying their first outing. Keeping busy, the anglers caught a total of 236 fish with a combined weight of over 100kg.Competition was strong with several close results and records broken. Melissa Smith won the Mystery Fish category whilst Steve Coleman landed the Biggest Fish, hauling in a 5.86kg Mulloway. New member Jayden Watling won the junior category with the sub-junior title going to Grace McRae. Thomas Evans was successful in the men’s category with 215 points and 28 fish caught, beating Darren Carrall by a single point. Fiona Minett led the women’s category with 57.5 points. Paul Shultz broke the record for the Biggest Bream with a 1.055kg catch and just fell short of the Biggest Salmon record by 100g. Fishing Club President Darren Carrall said the weekend’s perfect weather made an enjoyable and successful outing. Grace McRae with her winning catch. “We were fortunate that the rain held off over the weekend, with the bad weather coming in after the outing,” he said. “There were plenty of fish around during the weekend with the first of the bream coming out, which will mean fishing will be a lot better over the next month.” Mr Carrall said club members were looking forward to two more outings planned for the month. The Mid-North Coast Competition commencing on 20 May and the Gibber to Gibber Competition against Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest Fishing Club on 28-29 May will keep members busy. By Daniel SAHYOUN
