THE Coffs Creek was the site of a launch of a Statewide tourism initiative by Stuart Ayres, the Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney, and Gurmesh Singh, the Member for Coffs Harbour.

The launch of “49 Local Stories” highlighted local business Wajaana Yaam Gumbaynggirr adventure tours, operated by Clark Webb.

Clarke has been conducting paddle boarding lessons, combined with native plant identification, cultural stories and a beach walk, for the past three and a half years.

Mr Ayres said, “We want to showcase those fantastic local stories.”

“It’s not all about the images of Sydney Harbour and our wonderful coastline, but hearing those personal experiences of people like Clark here in Coffs Harbour.”

He went on to say, “This is really about preparing our tourism sector to be much more resilient and be ready to bounce back when everyone can get out and move around.”

“There has never been a better time for Australians to get out and explore their own backyard, explore their own waterways, explore their own culture and their own community.”

Mr Singh said, “With the decline in international tourism, we will start to see more tourists flock to places like Coffs Harbour, to Woolgoolga, to Sawtell and spend their money here, locally.”

“We need to be able to open our doors as soon as travel starts again,” he said.

The 49 stories have been selected by Destination NSW to include a range of experiences, and Wajaana Yaam Gumbaynggirr adventure tours was chosen because of great feedback.

The stories will be shared across digital platforms and social media to inspire Australian travellers to visit the wonderful range of travel experiences available throughout New south Wales.
