Imagine how many volunteers there are in the Surf Life Saving movement, every one of them is a volunteer. What a field !! Well – as our community says – how lucky are we – It is with the greatest of pleasures that we can announce the winner of the Volunteer of the Year Award – Debbie Booth. How Good. There is not anyone more deserving in TGHN SLSC than of Debbie Booth to receive the Volunteer of the Year award. TGHN SLSC is honoured to have Deb in the club and are so very very proud that she received this award at the Hunter Awards of Excellence Evening. Congrats Deb. The message from the Hunter Branch CEO, Rhonda Scruton, to TGHN SLSC – “Well Done TGHN SLSC, to win in this branch is an honour amongst amazing people in all our 13 clubs. A great example of a great lifesaver. “ Deb originally moved to Tea Gardens as a schoolteacher at Tea Gardens Primary School and has even been spotted in the Duck Suit at our Myall River Festival promoting the prestigious Duck Race for the Tea Gardens Primary School. Debbie has dedicated over 20 years of surf lifesaving patrols for our community on Bennet’s Beach, was the first lady president of the Hunter Branch of NSW Surf Life Saving as well as President, Secretary, , Chief Training officer, First aid officer, Public Officerof our Surf Club and more recently Branch Director of Education for the Hunter Branch for Surf Clubs from TGHN in the North to Catherine Hill Bay to the South. It is also because of people like Debbie that TGHN has some amazing young life-savers coming through that helped TGHN SLSC be nominated for the Education Program of the Year. There could be more news to come – can it be 2 from 2 from our amazing Surf Life Saving Club. Thanks to TGHN Surf Clubs amazing next generation – let’s see how our local young surf life savers also go in the Awards of Excellence next edition – thanks to Debbie. It is always very exciting news for our TGHN club to win accolades and even better when truly amazing and deserving people like Debbie, who give so much to our community, receive the awards.
