Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au The annual presentation was conducted at the Tea Gardens swimming pool (in lieu of the award dinner) to ensure ongoing compliance with COVID-19 safety requirements. Peter Kellaway, the Club’s most senior member and a past president and committee member, awarded the Encouragement Trophy to Julie Bergan, stating, “It was a hard choice, however Julie epitomises what this award is all about, to look, learn and practice. Julie attended all sessions, our Monday stroke classes, the Wednesday sprints, and the Friday endurance swims. “She has worked hard to improve her swimming and really deserves this award.” Linda Stubbs, the Club Vice-President, awarded Club Member of the Year Trophy to Sharon Taylor, stating, “This award is about upholding club standards and acknowledging great performance and longevity. “Sharon has been a member of Myall Masters for six years. “During this time, she has represented our club at numerous swimming meets, and has gained official qualifications in timekeeping and as an inspector of turns. “She successfully completed a stroke correction course and assists coaching each week. “She supported organising and running the Jimmys Beach Open Water Swim and the Myall Masters Swimming Carnivals. “Sharon is always willing to volunteer her services unselfishly and this award is very well deserved.” The Club President, Leon Bobako, organised the Presentation Awards, as well as the ongoing compliance with NSW COVID-19 safety standards required to keep the club swimming. Since starting back this season, the swim club has attracted new and old members with 54 swimmers training over two sessions last week. The Club has their first Swim Meet for the season, the Hunter Reconnection, at Maitland pool on 13 December.
