Operation Teddy Bear began in Victoria 30 years ago, and has recently spread to other states.

It offers comfort to a child whose family has been made homeless, a child involved in a road accident, or a child affected by domestic violence or sexual assault.

Club president Kay Elson told News Of The Area, “During my year as President of Tilligerry Lions, I wanted to do projects which benefited women and children, so felt this project was very worthwhile.

“This year, to fundraise for the bears, Tilligerry Lions have various fundraising activities throughout the year, but our bi-monthly BBQs at Tanilba Bay raise funds all the year round.”

“This year our very special bears were purchase through Lions in Victoria, and they are so soft and cuddly,” she said.

The first batch of these special bars went to the Lemon Tree Passage police, and then they gave a batch to our local paramedics at Tanilba Bay.

There are lots of exciting things on the horizon for Raymond Terrace Lions Club.

On 24 March, The Raymond Terrace Lions are holding a Pink Afternoon Tea at Club Lemon Tree to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation, which employs breast care nurses who give much needed support to women with breast cancer.

The afternoon will be fun filled with a glass of bubbly on arrival, a yummy high tea, guest speakers, a fashion parade, tombola, lucky door and great raffle prizes.

Tickets are available from Club Lemon Tree or phone Kay Elson on 0409274094, or Linda Porter on 0425207388 at a cost of $35 each.
