The $1,200 funding boost comes from the proceeds of the Men’s Chocolate Cake Auction which was held as part of the 2017 Bulahdelah Show.
Show President Gary Gooch said profits from gate takings and various other activities are donated to community groups each year.
“By putting money back into the town, it benefits everyone,” he said.
“We get great support from the general community, so we like to give something back.”
Gary said a further $400 has been allocated to Great Lakes FM who broadcast live from the Show and donations will also be made to the local schools.
Men’s Shed member John Renfrew was recently presented with a cheque from the Show Society and said the donation has come at very good time.
“We have just had our annual test and tag on all our electrical equipment and unfortunately quite a bit of it needs to be replaced,” he said.
“We thank the Show Society for their generous donation as it will allow us to replace some of those items.”
Show Society Committee Member Andrew Moncrieff told News Of The Area dozens of community groups have received donations over the years.
“We have helped many volunteer groups that have restricted access to fundraising and always look for opportunities where we can to help out organisations that are vital to our town,” he said.
Recipients of donations in previous years include the Bulahdelah Fire Brigade, Hospital Auxiliary, Preschool, Scouts and Lions Club.
