BOWRAVILLE Central School (BCS) Year 10 student Reeion Jarrett has been selected to play for the Indigenous Australian Under 15’s Invitational Rugby League side.

“This is a great honour and achievement for Reeion and the school,” said Megan Cochrane, BCS Community Liaison Officer.

Reeion will be coached by Peri Creamer, ex-NRL ace Dean Widders and dual-code international star Timana Tahu.

The National Championship will be played at Redcliffe’s Moreton Daily Stadium in Queensland from 2 to 8 July.

Reeion told 2NVR Nambucca Valley Radio, “I have to go up to Redcliffe and play a few games, and see if I make it to the next round.”

While Reeion is likely too young to have witnessed Widders or Tahu in action, he is very excited to meet them nonetheless.

“I am very happy.”

“It is special. I just can’t wait to get up there and play.”

Region said his favourite NRL player was Bowraville icon Greg Inglis.

The young Bowraville Tigers under 15’s fullback said his strengths lay in footwork and passing.

“No fends here,” he said.

Reeion said he hopes the opportunity will lead to others in the game.

“I want to play footy all my life,” he said.
