“There is no selection process; it is a very egalitarian exhibition,” Pene Charles, President of Sawtell Gallery, told News Of The Area.

All entries are accepted.

“This year we have 138 entries which is down on previous years, but we have been very impressed with the quality.
“Each section is judged by our invited artists.

“This year we have David Bromley and Terry Butterworth.

“Both of these judges are well known and respected in the community,” she said.

The sections are hung together, and this year Sawtell Gallery has had a new curator, Jasmine Winter.

“Jasmine has done a wonderful job presenting each work with care and consideration,” said Pene.

“She has tried to present the works cohesively with a fresh focus.

“This is our 34th Annual Art Show and each year we have managed to put together an excellent exhibition,” she said.

The Gallery is a not-for-profit organisation and each year the volunteers rally to put together something outstanding and anticipated by the community.

“On Opening Night the awards will be given at 5:00pm and some of our major sponsors will be there to present the awards.”

There will be music, canapes and beverages for guests.

Everyone is welcome to attend but if they can’t make the opening, the gallery will be open on Friday nights until 8:00pm and every day from 11:00am to 3:00pm.

“We have some great sponsors: Coffs Harbour Council, TACMED Australia, TCA, Shine Lawyers, Robson & Oliver The Friendly Law Firm, Bargains on First, Sawtell RSL, art lovers and philanthropists Sue and Bruce Gray and Jennifer and Viv Simpson.

Donations have been made by Sawtell Hotel and Sawtell Golf Club for the raffle.
