Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au After growing up in Port Stephens and attending the local schools, Brooke completed a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Communication and is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. “I am putting my hand up to fight for our community because I want to make it the best place to live, raise a family or run a small business,” Ms Vitnell said. “I have previously worked for a number of Federal Cabinet Ministers as a senior adviser and during my time working for the Government I played a key role in preparation and communication of the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children and managing communications surrounding establishment of the Disability Royal Commission.” Ms Vitnell says that she wants to ensure that the community has its fair share of work opportunities, whilst advocating for opportunities in the Port Stephens region. “With a strong record in community advocacy, including fighting to deliver better outcomes in youth mental health and the prevention of elder and domestic abuse. “I know how to speak up locally but deliver nationally. “Like many of us I’m the product of a family that’s spent generations working and raising families across the Hunter. “Whether it was rolling BHP steel or fighting for their country they instilled in me a deep commitment to hard work and dedication to community,” Ms Vitnell said. Her main priorities for the election include communications (mobile blackspot safety concerns), a stronger and safer Australia through support for defence projects, Australian-made, support for small businesses, better health outcomes, safer streets and support for koalas. “The people of our region are my inspiration; they drive my passion to deliver for our community, so we can make our town and suburbs better places to live and raise families and for jobs. “It’s my pledge to put the people of our region first, both here and in Canberra. “I’m a proud volunteer in our community and want to give back to the region that has given me and my family so much. “I want to use my skills to get things done in Paterson,” Ms Vitnell said.
