ARTISTS are invited to take part in a newly founded group, who will meet once a month at The North Coast Regional Botanic Gardens in Coffs Harbour, to share ‘everything arty’; art practices, art books, tips, techniques and talk. Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au To be held on the first Sunday of every month, in the peaceful surrounds of the Botanic Gardens in Coffs Harbour, the group’s simple aim is to bring art to the people, and vice versa, people to art. The inaugural Artists Showcase will be on Sunday 1 May and runs from 12-noon until 4pm. “Artists are invited to showcase their work – whether it be visual art, spoken word or performance based. “The event is unplugged and is free to both participants and visitors to the Garden. “Each month will see a different event schedule, dependent upon the artists who register. “The activities could be as diverse as an artist presentation and talk about their works, a discussion on an artistic process, collaborative painting, or a tutored life drawing session,” James P Gilmour said. “It really is about people meeting artists directly and enjoying all that art offers in a relaxing setting.” Tammy added, “There are a host of creative people in the area. “This event will give people direct access to artists plus allow artistic dialogue, synergy and connection. “It is so simple to register interest – the easiest way is to like on Facebook, ‘Artists in The Garden’, and complete the jotform which is attached to every post.” The location and timing is included on the Facebook group page. The event is completely free to artists and the public. Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the afternoon. Diary dates for the gatherings: 1 May, 5 June, 3 July, 7 August, 4 September, 2 October, 6 November and 4 December.
