THE organisers of the famous Dorrigo Show have set a 2022 date for the iconic rural event.

Dorrigo Show Society has an energised team which has just officially launched its preparation for the first district exhibition since 2019.

“After two hard years of cancelling the Dorrigo Show because of the impact of Covid-19, the 2022 show will be held on the fourth weekend in November,” an event spokesperson told News Of The Area.

That’s Friday and Saturday, 25-26 November at Dorrigo Showground.

This year’s show theme is ‘Women in Agriculture’ and with the three senior positions on the society occupied by women it will be a traditional country show with a special focus on women on the land, not just as support people but as leaders and independent managers.

Susan Bignell has been elected Treasurer; Christine Dacron has indicated she will remain as Secretary until a full time replacement is found and Sally Duckett has entered her fourteenth year as Society President.

Sally has acknowledged the contribution of retiring treasurers, Alison and Phillip Clements, saying, “The committee extended a huge thank you to Alison and Phillip who have done a sterling job during the last seven years.”

New to the executive team, Susan brings extensive experience to her position in the areas of book-keeping, allied financial management and Angus cattle breeding.

She and her partner moved to Dorrigo last November after many years producing Angus beef and Merino wool near Copeton Dam, Inverell.

“I ran a book-keeping business for 25 years and I am very familiar with life on the land,” Susan said.

“I’m thrilled to be in Dorrigo and to become treasurer of the show society.”

Vice presidents for 2022 are Bob Hawkins, Greg Tyler and Wayne Burley and the executive committee is former Dorrigo Show Girl Tahnee Tosh, along with Alexander Fraser and Brad Schwartz.

“We are really looking forward to the Dorrigo Show in 2022,” Sally said.

“It will be hard work getting it up and going again, but we know we will get there.

“Bring it on.”
