Tomaree High School sport teams on a winning streak

The Tomaree High School Regional Championships Swimming Team.

 

TOMAREE High School Students have been getting into sport with teams recently competing at the Regional Swimming Championships, the Hunter Open Boys Soccer Knockout tournament and the Hunter Open Boys Basketball competitions.

The swimming team had some great success with both Ebony Nix and Anekah Sargeant making it through to State Swimming Championships.

The school was represented by Hamish Clark, Maxx McMahon, Demi Portlock, Ebony Nix, Hannah Lowrie, Charlie Webb, Anekah Sargeant, Lexi Manning, Mitchell Lancaster, Campbell Stewart, Aedan Ryan and Cooper Limn.

Ebony and Anekah will be competing in the open girls medley and the sixteen-years girls relay at the upcoming State Championships.

Joe-Ann Williams of Tomaree High School told News Of The Area, “Tomaree High School is proud to have students representing at such an elite level of swimming.”

At the Hunter Open Boys Soccer Knockout tournament, the Tomaree High School soccer team played against Francis Greenway High School, winning 12-5.

The boys will now face off in the next knockout round.

“The boys dominated the game by maintaining a steady performance throughout the entire game,” Tomaree High School coach Jack Taylor said.

At the Hunter Open Boys Basketball competition, Tomaree High School defeated Irrawang, Hunter River and Francis Greenway to take out the Port Stephens Gala Day.

On 31 March Tomaree High School will be competing in the area finals, which covers from Taree to Lake Macquarie.
Team captain Toby Butler happily received the Port Stephens Gala Day shield.

Coach Cal Baillie said, “Our basketball team has come a long way in a year, winning all three games to take out the Port Stephens Gala Day.

“The growth in the group and their commitment to always having fun makes them a pleasure to coach,” he said.
