COFFS Coast Athletics Club members have proven themselves to be amongst the best young athletes in the state.

Eight of the region’s best junior athletes travelled to Sydney to compete in the Little Athletics NSW Track and Field State Championships.

Linc Henry won two bronze medals in the under 14s 90m and 200m hurdles, and he also made two other state finals finishing 5th in the long jump and 7th in the triple jump.

Nate Butcher also brought home a bronze medal finishing third in the under 9s high jump at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre.

Fern Berry and Amaia Wain also made state finals, with Berry finishing 5th in the under 15s triple jump, and her teammate Wain finishing 7th in the under 15s high jump.

Tiah Allen, Riley Morrissey, Josh Upsall, and Bodhi Wain also recorded a number of top-20 finishes in their events.

Coffs Coast Little Athletics president Brooke Henry praised the efforts of the team of eight young athletes at a tough event.

“The team did very well in tough conditions and posted some really great times, heights and distances that they should all be proud of,” she said.

“Some were lucky enough to post personal bests, but there were plenty of smiles all round which was great to see.

“A big thank you to all of the helpers over the weekend including coach Glenn Thacker for helping the kids throughout the weekend.

“It is a great accomplishment for the athletes to make it to this level and a great experience for them to compete at great facilities against the best in the state.

“They should all be very proud of their achievements.”
