OPINION: ANZAC Memorial for Brelsford Park Opinion by News Of The Area - Modern Media - March 20, 2022 DEAR News Of The Area, I HAVE recently read an original account of Australia and the First World War! And what an extraordinary account it was. Never in all my years have I been so personally drawn into the respective lives and roles of those, and their families, who so gallantly and unhesitatingly volunteered for service – unto death! Why is it that we cannot create an impressive and stunningly beautiful ‘ANZAC Memorial’ Garden/Park in Brelsford Park? Why do we need to annually squeeze so many children, groups, citizens and dignitaries into such a small area fronting the C.ex Club? What is wrong with our vision: both short and long? Having shown our inability to make a ‘forthright’ decision regarding a comprehensive Performing Arts and Cultural Centre, let’s not do the same for our ANZAC remembrances. Smaller communities than Coffs Harbour have created most heart-lifting parks from which citizens and visitors will be perpetually proud of those who so bravely deserve to be remembered. Oh, one other thing! Who makes decisions of this kind? Thanking you, Kenneth PALMER, Coffs Harbour.
