IN response to the disastrous floods, guests at the International Women’s Day Breakfast last week in Coffs Harbour were asked to donate to flood victims, and the response was overwhelming.

The initial suggestion was for toiletries, but people thought creatively and donations also included gift vouchers, cleaning products and food items.

Deb Johnson, from Business Professional Women (BPW) Coffs Harbour, and her husband Ray, sorted and categorised the donations at the ANZ bank, and with fellow BPW member Lyndall Weatherby, set off for Woodburn.

They delivered the goods to the Woodburn Community Hall, which has been fitted out as an emergency relief centre.

Because of the generous response, there are still more donations to be sorted and delivered next week.
