Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au For around half that time Woolgoolga Red Cross members and volunteers have participated in the wave of action to support the important everyday work that Red Cross does throughout the year. This year volunteers will again be unable to actually doorknock due to Covid restrictions, but the Woolgoolga Branch will continue to be active in seeking support from the local community which has shown such generosity over many years. Robyn Rooth, NSW Red Cross Board Member and Branch Patron told News Of The Area, “Fundraising will take place in several ways. “There will be a luxe raffle with great prizes. “We will be collecting donations at street stalls during March. “There will be a special coffee day on 18 March when Mikayla at Beachhouse Café will very generously donate $1 for every cup of coffee that is purchased on the day. “Red Cross members will be present at Beachhouse Café on the day to answer any questions and thank you for your support.” Robyn shares where the funds are spent across the Woolgoolga community. “Your support can help to ensure people who are older and isolated have someone to check on them regularly. “You will be helping newly arrived refugees to settle in their new home, and you will be helping young people in the justice system, and in many other ways.” In conjunction with Red Cross Calling, the campaign ‘Act for Humanity’ encourages everyone to take a humanitarian step, no matter how small. “This could be by taking a cake to an elderly neighbour, doing something you are good at – maybe using your knitting skills to join the Trauma Teddy team, teach someone to cook, sell baked goods, set up a friendly football match for local young people. “Check act.redcross.org.au for more ideas.” If you would like to offer your time or discuss any ideas to support the campaign.please contact coordinators Judy on 0408 354 422 or Robyn on 0418 646 801.
