Keep poisonous chemicals in their containers

THE NSW Poisons Information Centre have issued a reminder to keep all poisonous chemicals in their original containers.

Poisonous chemicals come in a rainbow of colours and often look very appealing to children.

Children are at greatest risk of serious poisoning – often from just a mouthful.

Management of poisoning varies depending on the chemical ingested.

If you have decanted a poisonous chemical into another container there will be no ingredients listed or First Aid advice available in case of an accidental ingestion.

Not knowing what was ingested significantly increases the risk of serious harm.

Always keep chemicals such as cleaning products, garden herbicides, pesticides, and car products in their original containers and out of reach of children.

Call the Poisons Centre on 131126 for further advice following any ingestion of a chemical.
