Now an octogenarian, Jan has been painting most of her life.

Her passion for painting a variety of styles and subjects has always kept her love of painting alive and exciting.

We couldn’t help but ask Jan how many paintings she thought she would have produced so far.

“I couldn’t even guess,” she said, “but I began painting when I was about five years old and painting has been a passion all my life”.

“I have been involved with the world of art in many ways and have enjoyed every minute of it, however, this is my first and probably my last solo exhibition, although I have exhibited in many galleries and art shows over 60 years,” she continued.

The theme is very appropriate both to Jan and to our area.

“In working toward this exhibition I didn’t have a ‘theme’ in mind, however many of my recent paintings do have water in them.

“So ‘Coastal Memories – A Life By the Water’ is quite apt!”

The Gallery is at 81 Marine Drive, Tea Gardens (on the waterfront café strip, diagonally opposite the ferry wharf).

It is open daily except Tuesdays, 10am to 4pm.

Entry is free and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
