The meeting was attended by PSWIB members and also attending were member for Port Stephens Kate Washington, Liberal Candidate for Paterson Brooke Vitnell, Port Stephens Councillor Leah Anderson (founder of PSWIB), and President of Business Port Stephens Mel Turner.

The local business women held their first event of the year, at Crest Cafe, Birubi.

President Fiona Brown told News Of The Area, “It was wonderful to be meeting in person after having to meet via Zoom several times last year.”

The meeting was well attended by members plus there were many visitors who were interested in getting to know about the group.

The meetings always have a fun component and this time it was an interactive exercise delivered by President Fiona Brown Which demonstrated the power of connection in communities.

The membership has already grown after the meeting with three new members joining up.

PSWIB Founder and Port Stephens Councillor Leah Anderson spoke about her own leadership journey and the qualities women in leadership can embrace to reach their potential and be effective as a leader.

Leah also performs leadership roles at Port Stephens Koala Hospital and within the Rotary Club of Salamander Bay.

The AGM was held as a part of the meeting with three committee members returning including Fiona Brown – President, Christine Blosdale – Vice President, and Dinah Watson – Secretary.

Four new committee members include Elechia Jones as Treasurer and general committee members Linda Beks, Katherine Parker and Jacalyn Price.

“A huge thank you goes to outgoing committee members Carole Orbell, Bec Smith, Kathy Clarkson and Cathy Davis,” said Brown.

PSWIB Meetings will continue on the last Wednesday of each month, 5-7pm at various venues around Port Stephens.

New members and visitors are always welcome.
