Mallabula Panthers seek to fill key roles for 2022 Port Stephens Sport Sport by News Of The Area - Modern Media - January 25, 2022 Panthers juniors from yesteryear. THE Covid crisis, a shift in sporting interests, the lack of time or people more focused on personal issues. Call it what you will but many sporting clubs are finding it increasingly difficult to field teams. In particular it is very hard to fill administrative roles which are vital to the functioning of their operation. Mallabula Panthers Rugby League Club has a proud history dating back some 40 years. Many of their players, starting out as juniors, have gone on to greater things. Mark Bryant was one such player whose career reached its peak when he took to the field in Manly’s premiership winning grand final side. He then went on to play for two English clubs. The positions of Club President, treasurer, and secretary are still vacant. Canteen volunteers are in short supply as well, and they greatly miss Cathy Stone, a life member whose two sons were a powerhouse behind the ongoing success of the senior side over such a long time. You don’t have to be a Rugby League tragic to fill these positions. Many retired people have time on their hands and their administrative and money management skills would be greatly appreciated. Want to help? It would be a very sad day if the Club had to fold. Contact current president Bryan on 0409 452 887 and he will explain what’s involved. By Geoff WALKER The Mallabula Panthers are in need of support.
