Tea Gardens’ Elaine and Bart Huthnance to celebrate sixty years of marriage Opinion by News Of The Area - Modern Media - January 21, 2022 Elaine and Bart Huthnance on their wedding day. WELL-KNOWN local couple, Elaine and Bart Huthnance of Gams Road, Tea Gardens, are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. From their marriage on 3 February 1962, Elaine and Bart resided in Kurri Kurri where they raised their family and participated in several community groups over the years including leadership positions in Guides, Scouts, Venturers, the Kurri Kurri High School School Canteen and the Army Reserve. Elaine worked in the family grocery business and Bart worked for the Commonwealth Bank in various roles and branches in the Hunter Valley. In 1992 Elaine and Bart purchased Hawks Nest Liquor Supplies and relocated to the Myall Coast. The bottle shop was a two-lane drive through and a highly successful business, employing many friendly local people. They made life-long friends among the other local businesspeople and are proud to have seen the town expand, while retaining its beautiful natural assets and charm. Elaine and Bart have been active members of the Progress Association, Garden Club, Lions and Lionesses, Myall Stringers Ukulele Group and many more. Until recently Bart was the Treasurer for the Clinic Bus. Now in their eighties (and going strong!) they derive great pleasure from working in their large garden and enjoying the wildlife that resides there. Their greatest pleasure though is their family – four children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They are enthusiastic dog owners including a lengthy line of wire-haired Jack Russell terriers, and they enjoy caring for a rag-tag assortment of family dogs whenever required. They would like to send a cheerio to all their friends in the local community and wish everyone on the Myall Coast a safe and healthy year ahead. Elaine and Bart will celebrate 60 years of marriage on 3 February.
