Cr Steve Tucker ran uncontested for the position, resulting in no formal vote to be recorded.

Deputy Mayor Tucker is looking forward to his term.

“With the COVID-19 pandemic running rampant, a big turnover of councillors and the likelihood of financial stress, I will endeavour to provide a steadying influence and some continuity over the first year of this new council.

“With regards to Council works – many projects are still underway, several about to be commenced, and there has been a strong message from the residents for more to be spent on roads and drainage.

“These issues will all need to be addressed in the following months, so there are difficult but exciting times ahead,” Tucker told News Of The Area.

The previous Deputy Mayor of Port Stephens Council was Councillor Paul Le Mottee who was unable to run for Port Stephens Council this term following a technical error.

Deputy Mayor Tucker joins four other re-elected councillors and re-elected Mayor Ryan Palmer on the council this term.
