THE Final of the ‘Jim Scanlon Shield”’ was played on Tuesday 14 December and in a rather one sided affair the team of Rod Cue, Steve Stawski and John Fibbins (with an i) (Skip) ran out easy winners over the combination of Greg Penfold, Gary Ferguson (Golden Arm) and Paul Taylor (Skip) by 28 – 9 shots. The Final of the delayed Mixed Pairs was played on Saturday 18 December and in an entertaining game the team of Fay Foot who was substituting for Sue Sansom who was out injured, and Brian Hitchcock (Skip) finally prevailed over the team of Carol Shepheard and Tony Baker (Skip) in a low scoring match by 17– 13 shots. The traditional North vs South challenge usually played following the Mens Bowling Club AGM was played this year on Saturday 18 December. As in the past few years despite realigning the boundary line, the Southerners proved too strong again for the Northern boys and won the match by 133- 112 shots.
