Barry Powells, President of Coffs Landcare told News Of The Area, “Pia’s knowledge and passion resulted in many positive environmental outcomes for the Coffs Harbour and Bellingen regions.” Lindy accepted the award saying, “Winning this award is very special to me; I am thrilled to bits. “Pia was a great friend and mentor; she was my Sustainability teacher when I did my diploma. “Landcare is full of warm-hearted people, all bringing their best to Landcare…it motivates and builds the group and the movement in general. “So many little sites have been so well looked after all adding up to making Coffs such a beautiful area,” she said. Lindy runs her own successful business in environmental restoration and has an intense passion for conserving the local environment and creating a sustainable future. Lindy freely shares her knowledge and is dedicated to education and training, especially of young people to inspire them to care for their environment. She effectively collaborates with many local organisations including Coffs Harbour Landcare, Jetty Dunecare and Coffs Harbour City Council, raising issues, offering solutions and developing action plans to improve sustainable land management in our local area.
