HOYS Allied Health and Wellness collected four awards at the Coffs Coast Business Awards, held at the Hoey Moey on Thursday, 2 December.

Hoys was awarded Employer of Choice, Excellence in Business, Outstanding Young Business Leader and topped it off with Business of the Year.

Maggie’s Pet Co, from Moonee Beach, picked up two awards, for Professional Development and Training and Excellence in Small Business as did Costa Berries, for Excellence in Sustainability and Outstanding Practice in Work Health and Safety.

Other award winners included Key Employment (Outstanding Community Organisation), TacMed Australia (Excellence in Innovation) and The National Cartoon Gallery (Tourism, Experiences and Events).

The Australian Centre for Eating Disorders and Affirmations Publishing House were inducted into the awards Hall of Fame and The Dorrigo Butcher and the Coffs Harbour Squash and Swim Centre received Judges Acknowledgement awards.

Larissa Davidson, who won the Outstanding Young Business Leader Award for her work at Hoys told News Of The Area, “The fact that we were finalists was really cool but winning was amazing.

“It was a great night too, and the chamber of commerce made it really special and really showcased the fantastic business community in Coffs Harbour.

Ms Davidson told News Of The Area that Hoys are a family-owned company.

She said, “I came into it in 2018, full of ideas to put us at the forefront and Matt and Rob (Hoy) have been really open to new ideas.

“We decided to just keep going despite COVID-19,” she said.

Ms Davidson said the company is well known and a lot of other businesses refer clients.

Innovation, networking, teamwork and resilience are prime factors to its success, she said.

She highlighted Hoy’s Workplace Wellness Program, which focuses on the mental and physical health of the team and the organisational culture and work-life balance.

She said that recruitment is really tough, particularly because overseas and interstate movement is restricted, so retaining staff is essential.

Ms Davidson said only two staff have left in the past year but the company has recruited sixteen extra professionals because of growth, not turnover and that Hoys also won Employer of Choice at the regional awards held by Business NSW.

She said, “People know us as a business that is good to work for, so we are now being approached by professionals seeking work.

“Without the exceptional outcomes with clients and customer service from our team we would be nothing,” she said.
