RESULTS have been flowing in all weekend after an eventful two weeks of pre-polling and election day voting.

With a 12.73% informal rate of votes and progressive quota of 2,013 for a Council of eleven members, results weren’t as clear as many would have liked.

Leading the polls with 17.34% of votes was Peter Epov’s group C, receiving 4,817 votes, therefore at least two members from his ticket will make the Council.

Alan Tickle will also join the Council with 12.95% of votes, amounting to 3,128 votes.

Liberal candidate, Troy Fowler, took 11.06% of the votes, or 2,671 votes.

Re-elected, Claire Pontin will be representing Labor on the Council with 10.19% (2,461 votes).

None of the other groups reached the progressive quota, however at the time of writing follow in the order of Jeremy Miller (7.48%), Jessica Corkill (5.92%), Dheera Smith (5.81%), Kathryn Bell (5.29%), Paul Sandilands (5.09%) and Katheryn Smith (4.95%).

Current councillors Len Roberts and Karen Hutchinson may not be re-elected this term, with 4.66% (Roberts) and 4.77% (Hutchinson) of the total votes.

In the 2017 elections, Cr Roberts received 5,914 votes to his ticket – five times more than this election, whilst Cr Hutchinson received 2,112 votes just over a thousand more than this election.

These results however, are not final, with numerous pre-poll sites still having votes counted and the postal vote deadline of 17 December.

It is estimated that results will be finalised from 21 to 23 December 2021.
