Nelson Bay Croquet Club finish Thompson Trophy competition Sport Sport Results by News Of The Area - Modern Media - November 30, 2021 Contestants before the competition gets underway. THE Thompson Trophy is the Club’s annual golf croquet singles competition which is played in three grades based on handicap. The A and B Grade competitions were completed as scheduled before the Newcastle/Hunter COVID, but C Grade for handicaps 10 and over was eventually played on Sunday 14 November 2021. On a warm and bright but windy day, Rob Batho went through the competition undefeated to take out the 2021 Thompson Trophy C Grade competition. Fifteen members contested the C Grade competition: Bev Apps, Faby Batho, Rob Batho, Pat Edmonds, Victor Goodsir, Marion Graff, Anne Jensen, Lynette McIntyre, Viv Pitt, Jan Puckeridge, Jane Scorer, Ros Slaughter, Ian Spight, Jenny Turner and Ruth Wilson. The players were seeded into three blocks of four and one of three, giving most players a round-robin of three games, followed by semi-finals and a final. In Block A, Rob Batho won all three games to top the block. In Block B, Jan Puckeridge and Ian Spight both won two games with Ian finishing top on hoop difference. In Block C, Bev Apps and Ros Slaughter both won two games with Bev finishing top on hoop difference. In Block D, Victor Goodsir won all two games to top the block. In the semi-finals.
