Single vehicle crash on Richardson Road, Campvale

 

A MAN has died following a single vehicle crash in Port Stephens this week.

Just after 11:15am on Saturday 20 November 2021, emergency services were called to Richardson Road, Campvale, following reports of a crash.

On arrival, police were told a car had left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle – a 62-year-old man – was treated at the scene by members of the public and emergency services but died at the scene.

Members of the public acted quickly to provide CPR and hurried to Raymond Terrace Fire and Rescue station to ask for assistance from the brigade.

Deputy Captain of Raymond Terrace Fire and Rescue, Giacomo Arnott, spoke to News Of The Area about the incident.

“I want to thank those members of the public who commenced CPR on the individual and commend those in attendance for having the idea to send someone out to the station to ask for assistance,” Giacomo said.

Richardson Road remained closed for a number of hours following the incident.

Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Emergency services remained on-scene for a number of hours.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
