NAMBUCCA Valley Phoenix is proud to host a new exhibition called ‘Resilience: Advancing Despite Adversity’.

The community owned and operated social enterprise reopened on 20 November 2020, and to celebrate their one year anniversary are hosting this diverse collection of local artists and their work.

The exhibition also marks the two-year anniversary of the bushfire event that rocked our region.

Since then, we have all suffered under the impacts of Covid-19, flooding and many other obstacles.

Pippa Tabone, Coordinator, Nambucca Valley Phoenix said, “Our motto is ‘Together We Rise’ and it’s certainly been a struggle coping with recent natural disasters and staffing issues due to Covid-19.”

‘Resilience: Advancing Despite Adversity’ is a celebration of overcoming these challenges, and how as individuals and collectively we will advance together.

The exhibition is showcasing ten local artists portraying their experiences in a beautiful exhibition curated by Paul Miller.

The exhibition will open with a Welcome to Country, guest speakers, and artist talks.

Artists displaying in the exhibition are: Brentyn Lugnan, Denise Delaney, Sarah Wade, Villi Berkhof-Ober, Julie Nash, Pam Levy, Sally Hook, Georgia Baker, Nick Warfield and Paul Miller.

The exhibition opened Saturday 20 November at the Phoenix Gallery & Café, 88 High Street, Bowraville.

Nambucca Valley Phoenix is a diverse community hub offering Gallery space, coffee shop, and artistic courses.

“Our plan is to create a community space where people feel welcome to come and spend time.”

“We help people with disabilities and long-term unemployment to train in a safe and non-judgemental environment,” said Pippa Tabone.
