COFFS Harbour Musical Comedy Company (CHMCC) has lit up the Jetty Memorial Theatre stage with its production of ‘Mamma Mia’, the musical that inspired the movie and features a litany of ABBA songs that delighted the opening night audience.

Tickets to the entire 20 performances of the show had sold out completely by opening night, with a pandemic restriction cap of 75% capacity.

With the easing of restrictions on Monday November 8 the theatre has been able to go to 100% capacity and released the reserved seats on Monday morning, allowing more people to get to see the show.

News Of The Area attended opening night, and can report that this is a joyful feelgood show that had the audience caught up in the energy and enthusiasm of a rocking performance.

The five-piece band led by Musical Director Troy Cheers delivered the score with style and gave the vocalists the opportunity to present wonderful harmonies and great musical numbers.

Crisp choreography and lively movement kept the show rolling along at a good pace.

There were sections of comedy in the show that had the audience howling with laughter, and the intrigue of the story had them engaged from start to finish.

Assistant Director Courtney Campbell said, “We have had to work under very trying circumstances during restrictions and lockdowns, but we are absolutely proud of our cast and crew for their dedication and hard work, and we are delighted with the great show they are presenting.”

‘Mamma Mia’ will run until November 28, tickets are available at https://www.jettytheatre.com/mamma-mia/ or call the Jetty Memorial Theatre on 02 6648 4930 Tuesday through to Friday 12 noon to 4pm.

Current State health orders require all patrons to show proof of double vaccination at the theatre door prior to entry.
