For Robert it seems like only yesterday his son Rob had his first canoe experience at six months of age in Tea Gardens. This year the team of four consisted of Rob and his brother Peter, Kathryn and Damon Goerke from Melbourne. They were called Thought Sports/Sportz Nutrition and were hot favourites to be on the podium. The team were in the lead just prior to the tricky rogain section during the night and were unlucky to narrowly miss some of the vital checkpoints allowing the Peak Adventure team to take the lead. Thought Sports/Sportz Nutrition finished in a respectable third place. 1st – Team #2 Peak Adventure 27hr 15min, 2nd – Team #10 CBD Cycles 28hr 59min and 3rd -Team #3 Thought Sports/Shotz Nutrition 29hr 33min. There is no rest for the Preston clan with both Kathryn and Rob now off to compete in the longer endurance race known as Expedition Alaska. Parents, Robert and Julie, will also travel to Alaska to look after young Mattias.
