FEATURED Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest by NOTA - June 12, 2015June 9, 2015 Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Men’s Shed is making a tremendous effort within our local community. Grant Hickey, Ray Curtiss, Rachel Copeland and Ian Robinson Getting on board with jobs that assist local groups has become a priority of the Shed and has seen the men working on projects for Tea Gardens Public School, The Masonic Lodge and Tea Gardens Manor to name a few. Newly elected media spokesperson Grant Hickey said, “Our job board reflects the current works with the boys repairing bike racks for the school as well as performing repairs to the totem poles at Tea Gardens Library and the park at Winda Woppa.” “We now have a regular twice monthly visit from a group at the Manor, most of these men spent their lives working in various trades and the visits give them an interaction not available normally at the Manor.” Activities co-ordinator from the Manor, Rachel Copeland commented, “This social engagement program has seen a very positive response from the men, they all look forward to the next visit and to spending some time in a friendly atmosphere with an opportunity to get their hands dirty again.” “The Men’s Shed has been very supportive of the visitors and we hope to continue the program into the future.” One of the Shed’s projects has been designing and manufacturing ‘fine motor skills’ activity boards for use with the elderly and disabled. The Men’s shed would also like to thank The Masonic Lodge for a very generous donation after the men did a great job repairing the gardens outside the Lodge on Myall Street. After the recent AGM Ian Robinson has been re-elected as President and encourages all men to come and get involved on any Monday or Tuesday at the Shed located at Wanya Road in the industrial area. “We’re all here to help and have a good time doing the things we love, building projects and helping community groups with jobs,” Ian said.
