Woolgoolga Red Cross celebrates 30 years of fundraising

Winning second place in The Chairman’s Shield for the Red Cross Calling fundraising was the Woolgoolga Red Cross branch: Annette, David, Carol, Kerry, Robyn, Trish, Helen, John.

WOOLGOOLGA Red Cross Branch this year achieved thirty continuous years of service to the local community.

“Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions there have been no celebrations but Branch members have faithfully and enthusiastically continued to assist with supporting the work of the humanitarian organisation,” Robyn Rooth from the branch told News Of The Area.

Each year the Branch has conducted the Annual Red Cross Calling Appeal to fundraise for local community projects and over those thirty years have contributed tens of thousands of dollars to the campaign.

Being unable to physically doorknock this year did not stop the volunteers who set up collection tables at shopping centres and held a major event with the Red Cross Motorbike Dice Run.

“Once again our community responded so generously and showed their appreciation for the work of the Australian Red Cross.”

At the NSW Red Cross Annual General Meeting, held virtually from Sydney this week, it was announced that the Woolgoolga Branch had again exceeded their expectations by raising over $5,000.

The team was awarded Second Place in the Chairman’s Shield for Country NSW for their efforts in the Annual Doorknock Appeal.

“It’s teamwork and ours is a hardworking team who contributed hours and energies to the campaign.

“Once again our members wish to thank the local residents for their ongoing support as we work to assist the vulnerable in our communities.”
