THE Myall University of the Third Age congratulates Ray Keipert on the publication of his second book, ‘Five in the Quiver’.

Ray’s stories are about life’s challenges and how we deal with them and the qualities which we need to win through adversity; courage, determination, persistence and the desire for justice.

“Ray’s first book, ‘Life’s Winners …and a Few Losers’ was his first collection of short quirky stories but his second book of longer short stories allows him to expand on the human condition; we cannot predict how we will react to the circumstances which are chosen by us or forced upon us.

“The outcome is never guaranteed but we hope that we will rise to the challenge,” said Lyn Chaikin, Myall U3A.

Ray’s stories start back in time, over a hundred years ago, then advance to our present century.

While the various characters are drawn from the author’s life experience, they are fictitious, unless publicly known.

“A soldier’s dilemma, a dangerous cult, the search for a stolen art treasure, justice for a ruthless con woman, critical events in Pakistan.

“Yes, challenges a-plenty to be met.

“We can all be inspired by these stories and reflect on any personal challenges which we face,” said Lyn.

Ray has worked in Sydney as a high school teacher, served in the Commonwealth Public Service, been a TAFE teacher of Communications and an examinations supervisor.

He and his wife Leonie retired to Tea Gardens in 2013 and they quickly became very active in community life, especially the local Baptist Church and the Myall U3A.

Ray has always liked to write, but after joining Myall U3A, Ray found the opportunity to produce both short stories and poems.

As a U3A member Ray contributed to and helped publish their 2020 book, ‘Write by the River’.

A number of his short stories have received awards in literary competitions.

Ray’s latest book, ‘Five in the Quiver’, is a truly heart rendering collection of stories and a must read.

“Once again the Myall University of the Third Age would like to congratulate Ray for this fine work of literature; stories which inspire and linger in the imagination of the reader.

“This book will certainly be on my Christmas list,” said Lyn.
