The girls are back in town: Nambucca Heads Ladies Bowling Club back on the bowling green

Nambucca Heads Ladies Bowling Club members were excited to return to the greens.

THE ladies of the Nambucca Heads Ladies Bowling Club were very happy to be back on the green after another lockdown stopped play for a couple of months.

The standard of play was pretty impressive considering the lack of practise we’ve been able to have, and the wind and drizzle we were all happy to play through on the day.

Three games of triples were played, to keep to the safe number of under 20 for our first round last Thursday.

There were many bowls right on the jack, and plenty of tight ends, with those watching holding their breath and either cheering or gasping at the final count on ends, depending on whose skip won the end.

Results were: Kath K, Nerida Blackford and Margaret Dwarte losing to Joan Haigh, Arlene Duffus and Manor Smith 12-16; Marie Johnson, Teresa Meehan and Pat Smith going down to Janice Cedelland, Rosemary Dugdale and Pat Fletcher 8-17; and Hermie Frank, Margaret Flagg and Gloria Richardson having a strong win over Kerrie Dale, Alma Reid and Elaine Flemming 24-5.

Our next week of play will see our Club Triples Championship Final and the first round of minor singles being played on Tuesday morning, with the second round of singles on Thursday.

Good luck to all involved.
