Bitou Busters planted 115 plants at Winda Woppa to replace native bush accidentally removed by council workers.

Within two hours on Saturday 9 May, the Bitou Busters team of 15 spread the mulch, then planted and watered the 115 plants provided by Great Lakes Council.

Organisers say they now hope the regeneration area is well defined and the Council mowing team will keep away.

It was a beautiful sunny morning when the Bitou Busters arrived at Winda Woppa to find two huge piles of mulch and dozens of Lomandra tube stock, thanks to Steve Howard, community liaison officer at the Great Lakes Council.

Mel Ledgett, Professional bush regenerator at Boomerang Environment & Landscape brought banksias and other natives and Jill Madden Coordinator Bitou Busters had some eucalypts and wattles.

Four determined Bitou Busters worked away at the remaining bitou bush and hope to complete the primary removal at this site during the next working bee.
