Walking Basketball comes to Coffs Harbour

WALKING basketball has arrived in Coffs Harbour and is a unique take on the fast-paced game.

Walking Basketball sessions will be held over five Thursday sessions starting on Thursday, 22 July, from 10am-11am at Sportz Central.

Walking Basketball was introduced as a means to provide an alternative program that allowed adults & seniors to play basketball as a form of gentle exercise.

It allows people to stay involved in the sport they may have been a part of for some time, or to try a new sport altogether and learn new skills.

All ages and abilities are welcome, with no experience required.

The only rules to the game are simply no running.

Walking Basketball is for anyone and everyone with all abilities and ages welcome from beginners right through to seasoned ballers.

Walking Basketball provides optimal health benefits to all who participate including those who might be intimidated by the pace and impact of a traditional basketball game but love the slower, more social version of Walking Basketball.

The sessions last for 60 minutes and are made up of a warm up, skill-based drills, and ‘game play’, with sessions designed to be adaptable based on the participants skill level, fitness and mobility.

Anyone interested in taking part in Walking Basketball can contact Cristi Juffermans on 0447 828 475 or cristi.juffermans@bnsw.com.au.

Coffs Harbour Basketball Association will also be hosting a program specifically for girls.

‘I Am A Girl, I Can Do Anything’ is a free four week program held each Saturday morning from 10am to 11am at Sportz Central.

The program will give girls a taste of all the different aspects of basketball in a safe learning environment and is designed to get the girls together to pick up a basketball, learn new skills and fall in love with the game.

The first session gets underway tomorrow morning with those attending encouraged to dress in pink.
