IT’S been six years since the family of Michael Fowler experienced the grief of him simply going missing.

On July 6, 2015 the lives of everyone in the family changed.

Michael would be 61 years old now and he disappeared in what his family believe are mysterious circumstances.

His home was left with the door open, the light left on and the heater tipped over and there was a blanket on the floor.

Michael, who was a smoker, left his cigarettes, car, mobile phone and wallet behind.

Kathie, his sister, believes that someone knows something.

Michael was last seen near the McDonald’s at Williamtown by Police who asked him if he was okay as he was sitting beside the road – he replied yes.

Yet he hasn’t been seen since.

While Michael had depression, his family don’t believe that he would have taken his own life nor leave his home the way it was found.

The Missing Persons website states that, “In Australia a missing person is defined as anyone who is reported missing to police, whose whereabouts are unknown, and where there are fears for the safety or concern for the welfare of that person.

“A long-term missing person is someone who has been missing for more than three months.

“In Australia there are over 2,600 people listed as a long-term missing person.”

Michael is just one of these.

“Anyone, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity or educational background, may become a missing person; however, adults are more likely to be listed as long-term missing persons.”

Kathie implores anyone who knows anything about Michael’s whereabouts or what has happened to him to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

She, like the relatives of every unsolved missing person case, are experiencing heartbreak that simply never ends without answers.

“When a relative or friend is reported missing, the emotional impact on families and friends can be considerable.

It’s important to acknowledge that each person may be affected in their own way, and react differently,” states Missing Persons.

There are currently posters in and around Williamtown asking for people to come forward with information relating to Michael’s disappearance.
