Coffs Harbour Vintage Car Club ‘Swap Meet’ due to go ahead

Do you have pre-loved vintage car or motorbike parts to part with?

COFFS Harbour Vintage Car Club have been conducting an annual ‘Swap Meet’ for many years, only missing out in 2020 when Covid-19 restrictions caused a cancellation.

This year, Covid-restriction willing, the event is due to return on Sunday July 18 at the Coffs Harbour Showground.

Please check Coffs Coast News Of the Area’s July 16 Edition for confirmation.

For those who may wonder what a swap meet is, it is like a car boot sale except the boot is more likely to be a ute, truck, purpose-built trailer, shelter or just a tarp on the ground, all of which will be holding items of someone’s treasured collection.

Parts from old cars, motorbikes, or memorabilia, usually with a motoring or vintage connection.

Many of these parts are no longer needed but offered in the hope someone else will be looking for that special part to aid or complete a restoration or to commence or add to an existing collection.

Geoff Maunder, Events Coordinator, Coffs Harbour Veteran and Vintage Car Club, said interest in this year’s event has been high.

“Swap Meet organisers have already had a considerable number of phone calls from enthusiasts from as far distant as Tasmania wanting to know if the Swap is being held this year.

“Several regular traders have made enquiries too, saying that they expect it to be a big day as several other Swap Meets have been cancelled.

“The Swap is not just for Car Club members and if you have any old car or motorbike bits and pieces, motoring books, tools, or old and collectable memorabilia in the garage, now is the time to dust it off and prepare for the Swap Meet,” Geoff said.

Food and drinks will be available on site.

The Car Club will have a coffee and homemade cake stand and the Pacific City Lions Club’s food van will be serving breakfast through to lunch with their bacon and egg rolls, sausage sandwiches and steak and onion rolls.

No other food or drink vendors will be permitted to sell on the day.

Combined with the Swap will be a display of veteran, vintage, classic and collectors cars and motorbikes shown by local clubs.

There will be a ‘People’s Choice’ prize for the most popular vehicle displayed.

Viewing the display will be included in the entry fee.

As in past years, the Coffs Harbour Veteran and Vintage Car Club will present a donation to Waratah Respite Centre in Coffs Harbour.

Gates will open at 6:00am for stall holders and for the public at 7:00am.

The Swap winds up around 1 pm.

Entry and site fee for two people and a 40m2 site is $15.00.

General entry is $3.00 per adult with free entry for under 15s.

Please have the correct money at the gate.

COVID sign in with the Service NSW QR code is mandatory for entry to the Showground.
