Who is Karly Lane? Nambucca Valley Artist in the Spotlight

Karly Lane has become a well-known figure in Australian literature.

KARLY Lane has been writing for most of her life.

Being an avid reader with a huge imagination helped form the foundations for Karly’s writing.

“I didn’t really have any kind of writing ambitions when I thought about what it was I wanted to do,” Karly told News Of The Area.

“I didn’t start writing with the intent to become published until I was in my thirties.

“I read a variety of genres but really enjoyed suspense and a bit of military action/adventure type of books, like Andy McNab and Robert Ludlum but was often frustrated by so much technical jargon and the fact women in the stories usually were killed off to move the hero along in his revenge quest.

“So, I decided to write my own books…this being a little more tricky than I first imagined,” she said.

And write her own books she did.

In April 2011, Karly’s debut novel was released, and ‘North Star’ was just the beginning of a long list of best-selling novels.

Now with eighteen successful novels published through Allen and Unwin, Karly Lane is a household name throughout Australia, recognised as being one of the nation’s best selling authors.

Karly’s talents don’t stop there.

Not only is Karly a traditionally published author, she has also had vast experience and success in self-publishing having released a further eight books in different genres to her Rural Australian books published through Allen and Unwin.

These are available through Amazon books.

When asked what Karly loves most about writing, she said, “I love the escapism that writing creates.”

Karly currently writes for up to six hours a day with many additional hours spent on research for her books.

“There are certain books I have had to do a lot of research for, but I really enjoy it,” Karly said.

Karly is no novice on the author circuit, travelling to book signings Australia wide, attending library talks and author events, giving radio and magazine interviews and countless seminars.

She has also joined fellow authors on some of Australia’s most elite author panels.

Karly loves to keep grounded at home surrounded by her family and farm animals.

With the release of every new novel, Karly launches them in her home town in the Nambucca Valley, where she holds a fundraiser dedicated to a local charity.

News Of The Area asked Karly about her advice for aspiring authors.

“Find groups or networks to join with other authors,” she said.

“There is so much to learn and it’s so much easier if you have a group of like minded people around you to learn from.

“Workshops and writers festivals are excellent places to find inspiration.”

Karly will be attending the Northern Beaches Readers Festival in September this year.

Karly’s most recent release ‘Take me Home’ was released on May 4.

You can find Karly’s in all book stores Australia wide, you can also buy her books in ebook and Audiobook format through all online platforms.
