Three years of research and writing by Art Brown and the Bulahdelah War Memorial Trust has come to fruition to commemorate ANZAC Day 2015.

In the Bulahdelah Memorial Hall and School of Arts there was an ANZAC Centenary Exhibition from Thursday 23 April – Monday 27 April.

The opening night on Wednesday 22 April saw 180 people attend.

The Exhibition featured the lives and stories of the service personnel who served in WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam and current situations who were residents of the Bulahdelah area.

There is a book that is available to purchase titled “Bulahdelah Boys” as it focuses on the family members and mates who went to war.

The exhibition was organised into photos and stories of the veterans with a crocheted poppy placed above the photo of those veterans who paid the ultimate price for their country.

Art Brown and his team discovered that there were 72 soldiers from the Bulahdelah area who fought and 19 who died in WW1.

Mr Brown explained to Myall Coast News, “There were over 90% of families included in the exhibition who do not reside in Bulahdelah anymore so my research extended all the way up to North Queensland in some circumstances.”

There was also a digital photo exhibition on display from the War Memorial Canberra which featured 39 photos by surgeon, Charles Ryan.

The Bulahdelah Nursing Home visited on Friday 24 April and St. Josephs Bulahdelah visited on Monday 27 April and were given presentations about the material on display.

Mr Brown was assisted by Lyn Brown, Carol Tattersall, Iris Coleman, Betty Bramble, John and Kay Smith, Carolyn Burrows, Maureen Stamp, Robyn Latimore and Irene Worth.

A sausage sizzle for the public was provided by the Bulahdelah War Memorial Trust after the Dawn Service on 25 April.
