Bottled water at Karuah RSL was welcomed by many

Recent devastation from wild storms left Karuah residents without power and water for up to five days in some areas.

Local and surrounding residents including Limeburner’s Creek and Stroud were among many Hunter Region towns to be hit hard with torrential rain, cyclonic winds and flood waters.

Tress and power lines were brought down all over our local region leaving us all in the dark for days on end, many of us having no contact with the outside world and not knowing when power and water would be restored.

Karuah RSL’s Ross Parr worked closely with Hunter Water during the week to provide locals with fresh bottled water until town water could be restored.

Northside of Karuah was restored around Thursday being on Great Lakes Council grid.

Most of Karuah was restored on Saturday afternoon with still some locations out for longer.
