E-Bike rides are a great success with Autumn Lodge Aged Care residents

RIDING around on the new Passenger E-Bike is the latest fun activity which Autumn Lodge residents in Macksville are eagerly putting their hand up for.

The E-Bike, owned by the Rotary Club of Macksville is housed at Autumn Lodge for the express purpose of giving the residents the opportunity for a local outing in the fresh air.

Sonia and Renee, Activity Officers at NVCGROUP Autumn Lodge told News Of The Area it’s been a great success not only for those in and on the bike but for the community seeing the new vehicle ‘on the block’.

“The first community rides were out to Fairway Gardens and back, on about an hour’s ride,” said Renee.

“They’re out in the fresh air visiting places that maybe they haven’t seen for a long time, where they know houses or local places of interest – they love it,” said Sonia

“We’re organising two sessions every Monday to start with.

“We’ll evolve the scope as COVID restrictions get lifted, such as going to coffee on the riverbank, but at the moment it’s scenic rides where the pavements are wide,” added Renee.

Riders volunteer their time each week to take the residents for trips around the town.

Lucy sums up the sentiment of her fellow residents, saying she really enjoyed looking around the streets of Macksville and waving to everyone along the way.

NVCGROUP is a Not for Profit provider of Residential Aged Care across the NSW mid north coast with facilities in Macksville, Nambucca Heads and Kempsey.
